President Donald Trump and his trade team continue to negotiate agreements as the tariff deadline was extended from one week ago to August 1. The president announced a deal with Indonesia in which that nation will purchase U.S. energy, agricultural products, and 50 Boeing jets. Indonesian goods will have a 19 percent tariff while U.S. exports will be exempt from tariffs.

Members of various Senate committees are considering the confirmation of nominees to the Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, Energy, and Transportation. There will also be a hearing to consider extending the statute of limitations for fraud under pandemic programs.
Representatives in the House are holding committee hearings on Fiscal Year 2026 budget requests, cryptocurrency policies, the role of non-government agencies in the border crisis of the prior administration, and the risk of criminal exploitation of artificial intelligence.
